Move over Martha Stewart!

For Christmas this year, Santa brought me a sewing machine. I've been wanting to learn to sew but haven't had the time, a sewing machine, the room, etc.... Well now I have one of those excuses crossed off the list. I own a sewing machine!!

My mom said she would teach me to sew I just needed to figure out when. So I talked to Jim a couple nights ago about going up to my mom's house one night a week after I put the babies to bed (they go down at 6:30ish) for a sewing lesson. He said "why don't you go up there twice a week? Once during the week and then on Saturday night as well" He didn't even get a chance to finish the sentence and I was on the phone with my mom setting it up.

Last night was my first sewing lesson. We started with something easy - a pillowcase.
Here I am sewing Ben's pillowcase
Here is the finished product
I need to take a picture of it on the pillow.
Next I'm learning to make a bib.... I am loving learning to sew. It really gives me a sense of accomplishment. I love being able to make new things. It also gives me some much needed ME time.

Awesome - I'm jealous! I would love to learn to sew but have never found the time. I even have a machine.

Someday...

Pajama pants are easy also, especially when you're learning a pattern.

Piecing a quilt is also very easy once you learn how to use the machine.
