9 months

Will and Ellie had their 9 month appointment today. The offical stats are:
Will
Weight - 19lbs 8.5oz  - 25th %
Length - 27inches - 20%
Head size - 45cm - 45%

Ellie
Weight - 14lbs 5.5oz - not even on the charts.
Length - 26inches - 15%
Head size - 42 1/2cm - 20%

My babies are getting so big!! They are scooting all over the place! Will is really quick. He can sit up on his own. He says "Mamamamama"all the time and his giggle is completely infectious. He has 4 teeth. He's such a chunky little monkey, I love it. Poor little guy has been spitting up again and he's been really grumpy lately so I talked to the doctor about putting him back on the Zantac because I'm pretty sure the reflux is back. He agreed so Will is back on Zantac. This time he's on 1.2mls every 12 hours.

Ellie is so much fun. She is so ticklish. Her laugh is hilarious. She gets so excited and wiggly when she sees someone she likes. She doesn't care for strained baby food but loves anything she can pick up and eat by herself. She has 2 teeth. She's so tiny. She has a newborn size dress that she just barely grew out of. We really are getting our money's worth in clothes on her.

They are so much fun! I can't believe how quickly time has flown by.

Ears, Throat, Thighs and Poop

How's that for a catchy title. It draws you right in doesn't it? Makes you wonder how they all connect. Well let me tell you...

We'll start with the poop, just because. Ben seems to have decided to potty train himself. We tried for a little while but he didn't seem interested and I got overwhelmed with the thought of potty training him and dealing with the twins. On Friday he told him he was poopy so I laid him down to change his diaper. I opened his diaper and he was clean. I said "Do you want to go potty on the toilet?" He said "yep" so he jumped up and ran down the hall buck naked (is it buck naked or butt naked? Butt naked makes more sense to me since his butt was in fact naked but I believe buck naked is the proper - if either way is really "proper" - way to say it.) He climbed up on the potty and actually pooped! Then Saturday he did it again 3 times. Sunday was the same thing (even twice at church) and today he's gone on the potty 3 more times. I haven't had to change a size 4 poopy diaper in 4 days! (I have had to change many newborn and size one diapers). Peeing on the potty is another story so we are still in diapers (sometimes pullups) but we are definately on our way!!

Next we'll go to the thighs. That is where the babies got their 4 month old vaccinations :( Two shots each. Good news Will is now 13 lbs 5oz and 24 inches long. He is in the 25% now! Will is definately my little chunky boy :) Ellie is 10lbs 9oz!!! and 22 inches long. She is still in the 5% but she's finally in double digits!! They have both over doubled their birth weights!

On to the throat. The Zantac hasn't seem to be working as well as it used to. Will has been pretty grumpy lately. He was on .7ml 2x a day. I talked to the doctor today and we are upping it to .9ml 2x a day. Hopefully that will help. He's still a million times better than he was before we started the Zantac.

Last up is the ears. Ellie has been screaming a lot lately (well since Friday) I thought maybe she was either developing reflux like Will (she has always spit up alot) or maybe she was getting sick. At the doctors today they took her temp and it was 99 under her arm (Which from what I've read is the least accurate way to take a temperature but that's neither here nor there) He looked in her right ear and it was perfect but when he tried to look in her left she screamed at him. I held her and he looked again. He said her ear looks a little "fussy" but he can't say 100% if it's the beginning of an ear infection or the end. He doesn't want to medicate her unnecessarily so if she's still in pain tomorrow or the next day then I'm to bring her back and just take her back to the back. I don't even have to check in he will just see her and check her ear again. Right now I'm rotating between Tylenol and Motrin. (partially for the ear infection and partially for the shots) I do love my Ped because he doesn't just automatically medicate them at every little cough or sneeze. Also if he doesn't put them on medication he will usually tell me to just bring them back in a day or so if they are still acting like they are in pain and he will see them without a copay. Which is awesome especially with three kids.

I hate having sick kids. I'm hoping she will feel better tomorrow but I have a feeling I will be in the doctor's office tomorrow or the next day.

Also, On Sunday (Aug 24th) we are having the twins blessed (It's like a christening. They give the baby a name and a blessing on the records of the church) It will be at my parents house (so if you live in the area you are more than welcome to attend. It will be at 1:00 or so. drop me an email and I will give you directions if you don't already have them. You don't have to be Mormon to come.) But I found the most beautiful blessing dress that I wanted to buy.
But it was $149.00 I couldn't justify it. So we found some lace at JoAnn's that is gorgeous and my mom made one. She is almost finished with it and I will post pictures of it. It only cost us $70 (still outrageous but oh well) It is so beautiful and I can't wait to put Ellie in it.

My birthday and other stuff

My birthday was very nice. Thank you for the birthday wishes.
For my birthday I got a print from my brother Travis. It is an original piece from Travis. (You can see his artwork here: beanleaf) I've been wanting this one since the first time I saw it.
From Jim I got a basketball hoop, a soccer game, a solar powered fan hat, a squirt gun and a candy dispenser. (I have to explain all of this. Last week Jim called and said "I haven't bought you anything for your birthday yet." I said (totally joking) "You're kidding me.You are at gas stations everyday and you haven't bought me anything?!" He said "You are so dead! This is going to be AWESOME!" He had so much fun and Ben is enjoying all of his presents lol)
He also got me tickets to Wicked. He gave me tickets for Mother's day and I got to go with my sister Amanda and my Mom. It was AWESOME!! I highly reccomend it if you have the chance. I've always loved the Wicked Witch. She was my favorite character in the Wizard of Oz. This time I get to go with Jim. My Mom and Dad are watching all the babies and we get to go by ourselves!!I'm going to have to nurse them right before we leave then pump on the way and on the way home (The drive there is about an hour and a half. Since they nurse every two hours I have to pump on the way there and home so I don't explode lol)
I got a wrap today! This is the one I got: The Ultimate Baby Wrap Will loves it. He snuggles in and goes right to sleep. The best part is I can use it  as a forward facing (like the picture), facing out, sling, on the side and on the back. So far we've tried forward facing - Loved it, facing out - Didn't care for as much but I think as he gets better head control he'll like it better, and sling - Loved it. Ellie didn't care for forward facing as much but she doesn't like to be swaddled either. She's more willing to just lay on the floor and play than Will is also. I think as I get better with it she will like it more too. I even put Ben in it today. He got a kick out of it. I will have to post pictures when I can get them off my Dad's camera.
Will is doing alot better with the reflux. There are still times that I can tell he is hurting but overall he is much better. They are sleeping better too. He fell asleep tonight (in the sling) at 7:10 and he hasn't woken up yet (it's 10:00) Ellie went to sleep at 9:00. (I'm still working on getting her down earlier but it's not very successful. Will will usually wake up once around 12:30 - 2:00 and then again between 4:00 - 5:00 I can handle that. I should probably go to bed before they wake up so I get a little sleep.

Before and After (and some pictures)

This is how Will was constantly before Zantac
This is Will now
He's not the happiest baby on the block but he's not screaming as much. He had an ok day today. This evening was kind of rough. He couldn't settle down into a deep sleep. He would fall asleep and then when I laid him down he'd wake right up. Hopefully he is down for the night (well at least until midnight or so.)

He's did like to lay by himself a little more today. In fact tonight he didn't want to be held at all he just wanted to lay on the couch.

I bought this wrap from ToysRus the other day. I'm just waiting for it to arrive and hopefully it will help free my hands up to get stuff done. I was annoyed because after I bought the wrap I realized that ToysRus sells the Mae Tai wrap. AAAAARRRGGGGHH. Maybe I will get one of those someday.

Momma called the Doctor and the Doctor said.

Will has reflux. I thought he did in the beginning because he would spit up SO much. But the doctor said he didn't want to medicate  him unnecessarily so he wanted to wait to see if it got worse. It did. He doesn't spit up as much but he is obviously in a lot of pain. The doctor put him on Zantac. He takes .7 ml twice a day. I have to cut out eggs, citrus, nuts and avoid excess dairy. I can still have dairy just not alot of it.

He was great at the appointment. My mom took Ben and Ellie so I could just focus on Will. He screamed in the morning then slept on the way to the doctors office. He slept almost the whole time we were in the waiting room. Then the nurse called us back into the room. She gushed over him (we always get the same nurse. Which is nice because she knows them now.) She couldn't believe how big he's gotten. She weighed him 11lbs 14oz!!! He's now in the 10-25% (up from the >5%) He smiled and cooed at her the whole time. I kept thinking "great if he acts like this for the doctor too he'll never believe me." But he didn't fail me - He started screaming the minute the nurse walked out of the room. The doctor (and two medical students) came in and checked him over. They all agreed it was reflux. He gave me the prescription and told us if he got worse to go to urgent care but if not then to update him on Monday. Will slept the whole time I was waiting for the prescription and the whole car ride home. It was wonderful.

I gave him his first dose at 11:30 Then he ate (for 16 minutes!) and fell asleep at 11:44. He slept until 12:48. He screamed for a half hour then ate and fell back asleep. Overall he's only screamed for about an hour and a hlaf today as opposed to all day. He's still my grumpy little guy but he's no where near the demon spawn he's been the past couple of days. I'm just praying this works and he just continues to get better.

Both the babies are asleep right now. I was able to fold 3 loads of laundry and run two more. I unloaded and loaded the dishwasher. I took the trash out and cleaned the living room. I'm feeling so much better.
